A Short Hiatus

Wonky Pop will be taking a short hiatus this week as we will be traveling overseas to London & Dublin.  We will be back next Tuesday, December 1st, to bring you some of our favorites for 2009.  And who to be watching in 2010!

We leave you with Janet Jackson's "Make Me" (love the video!) and Beyonce's "Videophone" ft. Lady Gaga.

XOXO!

Screaming, Dancing, Breaking Glass & a Piano on FIRE!

Lady Gaga does it again- AMAZING performance at last night's AMA's.  She was incredible, singing her latest single "Bad Romance" and her soon to be released single on The Fame Monster album "Speechless."  It showcases her voice well.  There is question whether or not LG was lip-syncing the first part of Bad Romance... no official word on this as of yet.  LG has always said she will never lip-sync no matter how hard the song or dance routine.... the last half of Bad Romance she is definitely singing, along with all of Speechless.  We hope she releases a video for the song "Teeth" on her new The Fame Monster coming out tomorrow!

Other notable performances of the night were the beautiful Shakira singing "Give It Up to Me," her latest single. Alicia Keys and Jay Z had another great duo performance of "Empire State of Mind" and Janet Jackson's intro was pretty good - her outfit was hideous though! Rihanna's performance was great - but we are not loving the song "The Wait Is Ova." She needs to release "Hard." Whitney has gotten better, but still has a way to go.... she was point happy last night! And Jennifer Lopez fell...though they edited this out of the West Coast telecast! Oh J Lo... at least she recovered nicely! And we didn't stay up late enough to watch Adam Glambert perform..... so who knows how he did....

Run baby Run

here's a little Tuesday Night Music Club from Sheryl Crow, your Flashback Friday.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Alicia Keys - Stripped

TOP OF THE CHARTS, Here's Alicia Keys with Empire State of Mind II, which will appear on her soon to be  released album, Element of Freedom.

SO PRETTY!  This is what we wanted- a Jay-Z-less version!

Come on J-Lo... this is the single you release after your hiatus?  REALLY???  She'll be performing at the AMA's this Sunday..... oh boy.  Prepare for a train wreck.  We are!  (Thank God Alicia Keys will be performing twice!)

NEW NORAH JONES!

WE LOVE the new Norah! Still same great, sultry voice.... she chopped her hair and gave herself a new vibe to her jazz.... LOVE IT!

One of our favorites!!

Our lovely Swedish singer, Agnes Carlsson, has another single out on youtube.... The 21 year old Swedish Idol winner is cooking up some steam with "Release Me."  This beautiful bombshell, Leona Lewis-look-alike, is hot and we love this single!

We are loving this!

Cannot wait for the epic Lady Gaga ft. Beyonce "Telephone" video hits youtube.... cause this song rocks!  Another hit from LG!

PREVIEW Rihanna's HARDness...

Not that into the new single but the video looks good....

Nov 10, 2009

yes, she's everywhere but....

...we LOVE Lady Gaga's new video!!!  "Bad Romance"

We weren't big on the song when it first came out... but now with the visual, we LOVE IT!

Sliimy

Perez has blogged quite a bit about this new pop sensation, Sliimy... well, Wonky Pop hadn't been that into his style of music or his voice... until we heard his cover of Britney Spears "Womanizer."  We still do enjoy Lily Allen's cover more , but check out Sliimy's.

Adam Glambert gets Dirty in 2012

We have kept pretty quiet here at Wonky Pop in regards to 2008's runner up American Idol Adam Lambert....  we were (and still are) in shock over his latest single release, album covers, etc..... but now he has released a video for the 2012 movie (which we will not see.... especially since the director is planning on an hour special 2013 show for Television next year.... oh boy).  The video is quite ridiculous...but we will say this much, Adam can sing.  He definitely has a voice and this song isn't bad.  What do you think?

Meet BEP Halfway

This is our favorite single off of the Black Eyed Peas most recent album and this was a great performance on X Factor.  Thanks BEP!

Whip It Good

EVERYONE should go see this movie.... Foxsearchlights (the same production company that brought us Little Miss Sunshine) and Drew Barrymore's directing debut, comes "Whip It," a new movie featuring Ellen Page (that girl we fell in love with in Juno), Kristen Wigg (SNL "Gili" character), Eve, Juliette Lewis (be-otch!) and Drew Barrymore!  Though the boy crush Ellen Page develops with "Oliver" (played by Landon Pigg) is NOT cute....the movie is absolutely hysterical and even heart-touching at times.  Oh, and the soundtrack ROCKS!  It features The Ramones, Peaches, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Tilly and the Wall!  Some of Wonky Pop's favorites!

A Queen, a computer and a violin

Garth and Wayne sang this tune in the hit Wayne's World movie in the early 90s.... it's been in a ton of movies before and after that and it will never be forgotten.

Here's your Flashback Friday... Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" sung by Queen, 'instrumentalized' by Lucia Micarelli and computerized by, a computer.

Beyonce.. TRUE DIVA!

BEYONCE brought the DIVA last night at the MTV Europe Music Awards....

She is a true DIVA!

Nov 5, 2009

We will always stand by Kelly Clarkson's side.

Her heart is big.... and her sense of humor is even bigger.  After all the controversy surrounding the battle between her "Already Gone" and Beyonce's "Halo," Kelly sang a slight mashup of the two songs at her concert this past weekend.  Enjoy!

ALICIA! YES!!!!!!!

Rihanna take note... if you are going to have singles leak from your upcoming album, let them be good ones.  Alicia Keys, we love you and cannot wait for you new album.  We are LOVING this new single from AK, "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart." It's very a very different sound than most AK stuff and we just love it.  We cannot wait for the release of her new album "The Element of Freedom" in December!!

and from Jay-Z & Alicia Keys......... the new video for Empire State of Mind

At what point to they become men?

The Backstreet Boys have released their second single from their latest album, This Is Us.  We actually dig this new single (and their latest album is actually their best in YEARS).  They took notes from previous boy band re-releases such as NKOTB.  Collaborations with top pop/rb/hip hop stars on your latest record will sell it.
