LFO former member loses battle to Lukemia @ 35

Yesterday was quite a sad day for the Boy Band music world.  Former member of boy trio LFO lost his 5 year battle to Leukemia.  The Summer Girls (aka the Abercrombie & Fitch song) singer will be truly missed by many of his colleagues, friends and family.  He started the Rich Cronin Hope Foundation to raise awareness about the disease and educate the public about donating blood and bone marrow.  He was only 35 years young.

In loving memory

Today marks the 9th year since R&B artist Aaliyah was laid to rest.  The Princess of R&B sold more than 32 million albums worldwide and is known for redefining the ideals of R&B and Hip Hop.  She is missed and remembered by her many fans and loving family.

Chunk's Truffle Shuffle for this Hump Day

Chunk hasn't shuffled all that much these past few weeks.  Maybe it's because he's been eating too much food.  Or perhaps, it's because I've been too damn busy moving, painting, re-organizing my life.  No, actually, I think it's mainly because Simplify Media shut off their damn services.  Sell outs!! And now everyone seems to be trying to release their amazing "streaming" software for iTunes.  Thank God I found my Mojo.  I can successfully have Chunk spin the draddle iTunes shuffler and choose a random song of the day.

In my collection of 23,000 + iTunes (yes, it's officially hit 23,000 as of this past weekend and if I ever lose my external hard drive in a fire, I'm fu*ked!), Chunk's jolly love handles landed on none other than Elvis Presley's "All Shook Up."  If anyone out there still think he's alive, think again.  Today he'd be 75 and with all those drugs potato chips he got shook up with, he wouldn't have made it to 40.  Oh shit, he lived to be 42... well, in any case, the "legend" is dead.  Will kids in 2200 still think he's a legend?

Thursdays Album You Can't Live Without

Chunk actually had a hand in this in selecting this week's Album You Can't Live Without. (I can't help but think of You Can't Do That On Television every time I type that out...maybe someone will slime me).  Anyway...  I dig the 90's and once again, the 90's grunge rock comes alive with Nirvana's 26 million copies sold worldwide sophmore album "Nevermind."  A lot of people in the industry feel that to date, this is still one of the greatest "alternative rock" albums of all time- and really opened the door for alternative rockers everywhere to make it mainstream.  Why the had to put a naked baby on the cover of this album, I will never know.  Supposedly this had something to do with Cobain's vision from a show he was watching about women giving birth.  I remember the casette tape I stole from my older brother that had the same cover, but with a black sensor bar across the baby's peepee.  Awkward much?  Despite the odd album cover, still one of the greatest albums of all time.  I am sure there are some of you out there who tried recreating this album a time or two while staying at the Best Western with your family.  Gotta make use of your pool time.  (I can't say that I ever did try it.)  If you don't own it, shame on you.  If you never heard it, well, you're an idiot (I kid.... not).

Thursdays Album You Can't Live Without

Those that really know me may even be surprised by the fact that Yellowcard is one of my favorite bands to date.  I saw these guys 3 times in 2008, during their Paper Walls tour.  I couldn't get enough of their energy, their odd group of followers or their music.  By no means are they the most talented band out there but I have not been to a concert to date that has possessed the pure energy that was pouring off of a stage.  They've always had it.  After a 10 year run, they are currently on a "hiatus" and we all know what that usually means- 'we're done.'  If they are, so be it.  They ended their great career on top of the world.  If they come back, I'll be right there with them, cheering them along, every step of the way.

Ryan Key, the bleached blond lead singer has joined up with another fellow and formed the band "Big If."  I've heard some of their stuff on myspace and YouTube and it's really great- still has that Yellowcard fan appeal.  Not sure when they will tour or release an EP or full album... not much news on their myspace.  Let's hope something soon!

Paper Walls is definitely an album, from beginning to end, is outstanding and NEEDS to be a part of your music collection.  Though "Only One" was the mark of Yellowcard on the radio charts, this album takes the cake.  Give it a chance, won't you? Listen to "Date Line (I Am Gone)", "Light Up the Sky," and "Shadows & Regrets" (one of my ultimate favorites).

Chunk's Daily Truffle Shuffle

Was it Pete Wentz or Smashley Simpson that broke up Fallout Boy?  I guess we will never know (though we do know it was both of them allegedly).  Peter Peter pumpkin eater wrote on his blog back in February that the break may be indefinite with FOB and he may never play with them again (that's fo' sho!).  Founded in 2001 and going double-platinum in the US, FOB is no more and had a great 9 year run.  Chunk has chosen "This Ain't A Scene It's An Arms Race" as his shuffle for today.
