Y? N-Vee

This week's Flashback Friday....
Y?N-Vee (Pronounced: why envy) was an American female R&B group that formed in the early 1990s on the Island Def Jam label. The bands success was short lived; they scored three charting singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, including their biggest hit "Freedom" which featured Aaliyah, BlackGirl, En Vogue, For Real, TLC, Vanessa L. Williams among others from the Panther soundtrack. Their self-titled debut album Y?N-Vee was released on October 18, 1994, it peaked at No.75 on the Billboard 200 album chart. After seeing a few of these videos, you will know why it was short-lived....

We here at Wonky Pop can't leave you on a fabulous Friday with THAT though.... so we will end this week with the great Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men singing live, "One Sweet Day." Mariah Carey has been seen sporting her old locks these days- let's hope that means on her new album, she'll return to some of her old pop tunes as well!
