You can definitely sense The Fray's influence on this new single from the man who calls himself "Secondhand Serenade." The first single from John Veseley, this one was made for Top 50 Billboard. It has a more pop-friendly feel to it, and to me, I can hear influences of One Republic, Five for Fighting and even Dashboard Confessional. I am not saying that these are at all bad things, but, I do miss the more heart-throbbing wrist-cutting edge that SHS usually showcases in his songs. Though, I will say, his new album at first listen still has a few singles that are perfect for those rainy-i-got-dumped-days (or in the case of Veseley, getting divorced after only 2 years -- listen to "A Twist In My Story"). All in all, his new album will be one that will probably be seeing a few replays in my iTunes. It releases nationwide tomorrow.
